AWC Activities June 2017

AWC Members enjoy regular weekly and monthly activities as well as special events and visits. At present our regular weekly/monthly activities include a social morning, bridge, handicrafts, mahjong, a bridge refresher course, country line dancing, a Book Lover’s Book Club, and an Out to Lunch Bunch. We hold a Bring and Buy Sale once a month. Our June Sale will be held on Monday, June 12th from 10,30 to 2, with set up taking place on Thursday and Friday, June 8th and 9th. Other special activities for June include: an Out to Lunch Bunch gathering on Saturday, June 3rd; a Tardes de Zarzuela show at Café Teatro on June 8th; a Book Lovers Club meeting on June 14th; a Social Meeting on Saturday, June 17th with a talk by nutritionist Katie Schmidt on Integrated Nutrition; a Café con Encanto outing on June 21st; a Wine and Tapas Evening at the Club on June 22nd; and our Annual Farewell Luncheon on Monday, June 26th. AWC Activities January 2017

AWC Members enjoy regular weekly and monthly activities as well as special events and visits both in and outside the Clubhouse. At present our regular weekly/monthly activities include bridge, a bridge beginner/refresher course, handicrafts, mahjong, country line dancing, the Book Lover’s Book Club, a Wine and Tapas Evening, and when possible, a Coffee Morning at a member's home. We hold a Bring and Buy Sale once a month, the proceeds of which help to finance Club expenses and provide funds for our charity activities. Our January Sale will be held on Monday, January 17th from 10,30-2 p.m., with set up taking place on Thursday and Friday, January 12th and 13th. January will also feature a Wine and Tapas Evening on Thursday, the 19th starting at 7 p.m.; a Social Meeting with a presentation on creativity by EntreMundos on Wednesday the 25th at 11 a.m.; a movie afternoon on Thursday, the 26th at 4 p.m. This event is sponsored by the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), with the film "The Unknowns". April 2016 Activities at AWC

AWC Members enjoy regular weekly and monthly activities as well as special events and visits. At present our regular weekly/monthly activities include bridge, a bridge /beginner refresher course, canasta, handicrafts & patchwork, mahjong, country line dancing, the Book Lover’s Book Club, a Café Meeting Point outside the Club and a Coffee Morning at a member's home. We hold a Bring and Buy Sale once a month, the proceeds of which help to finance Club expenses and provide funds for our charity activities. Our April 2016 Sale will be held on Monday, April 11th, with set up taking place on Thursday and Friday, April 7th and 8th. April will also feature a Boutique Open House on Saturday, April 9th; a Café Meeting Point on Wednesday the 14th; a Movie Evening with the DAR group on the 14th; a Social Meeting on Wine Tourism followed by our Annual General Meeting on April 15th; a Murder in Milan Dinner Theater on Saturday, April 16th; an Art Open House on the 22nd; and a Coffee Morning at a member’s home on the 27th.

March 2016 AWC Activities

In March 2016 the Sale will be held on Monday, March 14th from 10,30 to 2, with set up taking place on Thursday and Friday, March 10TH AND 11TH. In addition to these regular activities, in March the following events will take place: a Social Meeting with a talk on Cartonnage on Friday, March 4th; a presentation on Taxes on Monday, March 7th; a Wine and Tapas Night on March 17th; and a Coffee Morning at an AWC Member’s home on March 31st. At present, our regular activities include bridge, bridge refresher course, canasta, handicrafts, mahjong, Book Lovers Book Club, and country line dancing. We hold a Bring and Buy Sale once a month, the proceeds of which help to finance Club expenses and provide funds for our charity activities. In February our Sale will be held on Monday the 8th, with Set Up taking place on Thursday and Friday, February 4th and 5th. In addition to these regular activities, February will also feature: Café Meeting Point on Feb. 3rd; a Tour of the Gálvez Exhibition on Feb. 9th; a Valentine’s Social Meeting on Feb. 12th; a Have a Heart Charity Cocktail Evening on Feb. 13th; a Review of Shaun Worthington’s Book “On Learning Another Language” on Feb. 17th; and a Coffee Morning at a member’s home on the 24th. Our January Sale will be held on Monday, January 11th from 10,30 to 2, with set up taking place on Thursday and Friday, January 7th and 8th. The month of January will also feature: a Café Meeting Point outing on Tuesday, January 12th; a Wine and Tapas Evening on Thursday, January 21st; a Social Meeting on Friday, January 22nd with a talk on Graphology by psychologist Nereida Gómez; a Coffee Morning at a member’s home on Tuesday, January 26th; and a Movie Night with the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) on Thursday, January 28th. June 2015 AWC Activities Summary

AWC Members enjoy regular weekly and monthly activities as well as special events in and outside the Clubhouse. At present our regular weekly/monthly activities include a social meeting, bridge, canasta, handicrafts & patchwork, mahjong, country line dancing, Hartbeeps Baby Rock Café Music for Tiny Tots, a Book Lover’s Book Club, and a Bring and Buy Sale. Notice that Intermediate Bridge Lessons will be offered on some Mondays at 2,30 p.m. starting on June 1st. The June Bring and Buy Sale will take place on Monday, June 8th from 10,30 to 2, with set up being done on Thursday and Friday, June 4th and 5th from 11-4. Note that we'll be working on the set up Thursday despite the local Corpus Christi holiday. We will enjoy coffee at a member's home on Tuesday, June 9th. Jaffa Gross invites us to her solo exhibition starting on June 10th. The Book Lovers Book Club will meet at the Clubhouse on Wednesday, June 10th. Perla Botbol de Cabuli will take us through some mental exercises on June 17th and 25th. Our monthly social meeting at the Club will be held on Friday, June 19th at 11 a.m.

AWC Events and Activities for April 2015

AWC Members enjoy regular weekly and monthly activities as well as special events in and outside the Clubhouse. At present our regular weekly/monthly activities include a social meeting, bridge, canasta, handicrafts & patchwork, mahjong, country line dancing, Hartbeeps Baby Rock Café Music for Tiny Tots, an Out to Lunch Bunch, a Book Lover’s Book Club, and a Bring and Buy Sale. The Bridge ladies are thinking of starting Bridge Lessons again if there are at least 3 people at beginner’s level who are interested. The lessons would take place on Mondays at 2,30 p.m. Ring the Club for information. The Book Lovers Book Club will meet at the Clubhouse on Wednesday, April 8th. April’s Bring and Buy Sale will take place on Monday, April 13th from 10,30 to 2, with set up being done on Thursday and Friday, April 9th and 10th. Instead of our monthly coffee morning, April will feature two Tea Tastings at Tea Blender Beatriz Gallego’s residence on April 10th and 23rd. On April 16th a group will be going to the Thyssen Museum to see the Raoul Dufy exhibit. April 16th will also mark the opening of AWC member Lynne Friedman’s photo exhibit in the calle Serrano area.
